The new Frances B. Ross Music Building will open during the spring semester of 2022. This brand new state-of-the-art music building will house practice rooms, study spaces, a piano lab, band hall, and choir room.

Panola College Ensembles

Vocal Music

Chorale is a 50-voice auditioned choir that performs repertoire from many styles and genres of music. The choir is comprised of students from numerous degrees and programs. Vocal scholarships are available to students selected to perform in the Chorale.

Students in the Panola College Chorale have the opportunity to audition for the Texas Two-Year College All-State Choir. If selected, students will perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio under the baton of a nationally recognized conductor.

Panola’s show-choir, The Panola Pipers, has a long tradition of excellence. Consisting of 8-10 auditioned singers, The Panola Pipers, travel throughout East Texas performing at civic events, festivals, and other venues. This ensemble performs current hits, jazz, rock, pop, and Broadway songs. Membership is by audition only.

Chorale membership is a co-requisite.

Instrumental Music

The Panola College Bands are committed to bringing high quality musical performances to the Panola College campus and Carthage, Texas.

The Panola Bands consist of several ensembles; the Concert Band is the leading ensemble and welcomes students majoring in music as well as those in all of the other degree and certificate programs offered by Panola College. The bands perform two major concerts per semester. Fall and spring concerts are presented, as well as a major showcase concert for the music department, Christmas in Carthage, and our “Chamber Music Concert in the spring.

Students in the Panola College Bands are also encouraged to audition for the Texas Community College All State Band and All State Jazz Band. They are prepared for this audition by Director of Bands, Dwaine Hubbard and Applied Music Instructor, Larry Edge.

The Jazz Band provides entertainment and educational experiences for students wanting to explore jazz, rock, and popular styles of music. This ensemble performs throughout East Texas and on the Carthage Campus. Jazz on the Quad and the annual Piper and Jazz Show are the major performances each year.

The Panola Pep Band, The Stampede, performs at Panola Basketball games in the spring semester. The Stampede brings spirit and excitement to the games as major supporters of the Ponies and Fillies.
