Industry needs good welders!

The Welding Program will prepare students for careers in welding positions in general fabrication shops, construction, and pipe welding. The curriculum is developed using employer defined skills. Welding practices and principles that are established in the program will guide students in welding processes and provide hands-on experience in welding, layout, and fitting skills. Welding is a field that is in constant demand and is expected to increase on the national level over the next few years. Certified welders will have much better employment opportunities than non-certified welders.

Welders have many options for employment, some choose to go into business for themselves while others hire on with a company where they often receive health and medical benefits. Welders have the opportunity to work independently and if they are willing to travel can earn significantly more pay.

Classes are offered in order to meet schedule requirements for a wide variety of students.

Panola College offers four levels of certification: Welding Helper, Basic Welding, Intermediate Welding and Advanced Welding. Each certificate is given to the student at the completion of the mandated classes.
