The Steve Byron Walker, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established in 1999 in memory of Steve Walker Jr., a 16-year-old Carthage High School student, who was killed in a car accident in May 1995. The scholarship was established by his parents, Steve and Connie Walker, and other family members, as well as by many friends. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving student to attend Panola College.
