The Floyd A. (Dock) and Fannie Watson Honorary Scholarship was established in 2002 at Panola College. This endowment was created by their children in honor and celebration of their fifty years of marriage. Their commitment reflects a love for Shelby County where as educators they have eighty-five years of combined service.

Fannie Baldwin Watson was a member of the second graduating class of Panola. She was active in the service organization, Green Jackets, and a staff member of the college’s newspaper, The Pony Express. She has always promoted the college and served on the alumni board for numerous years.

Although Dock Watson never attended Panola, he made sure that his children and grandchildren benefited from its services. As Shelby County Judge, he facilitated the satellite campus in Shelby County and helped initiate the Shelby Regional Training Center, which is a modern and productive educational system.

The Floyd A. and Fannie Watson Honorary Endowed Scholarship will be awarded each year to a Shelby County student who is pursuing a degree in education.
