The Dr. and Mrs. Sterling L. Davis Memorial Scholarship was established in 2002.

Dr. Sterling L. Davis, a practicing dentist in East Texas for many years, knew that an education could open doors of opportunity. He helped establish Panola College and was a member of the original College Board of Trustees, serving from 1947 to 1966.

Mrs. Lelia H. Davis, who earned a degree in education from Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia, established the Dr. and Mrs. Sterling L. Davis Memorial Scholarship in memory of her mother-in-law and father-in-law.

The scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving student majoring in education. The selection and announcement naming the recipients will be made in the spring each year.
