SOTA club to host special needs prom April 27
The Panola College Student Occupational Therapy Assistant (SOTA) club will host a special needs prom on April 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Frances B. Ross Ballroom of the Charles C. Matthews Foundation Student Center. The event is free and open to residents of East Texas who are 13 years of age or older.
“The SOTA club is very excited to host this community service event and make special memories with those who attend,” said Haley Johnson, president of the SOTA club. “We want everyone to have an equal opportunity to participate in prom festivities while not worrying about cost or any other potential barrier.”
The prom will have a Hollywood theme and feature inclusive activities such as dancing and drumming, along with finger foods and other refreshments.
Cosmetology students will be providing free hair and makeup services beginning at 12 p.m. in the W.C. Smith Building the day of the event. Those who wish to make an appointment must contact Bobbie Smith, cosmetology instructor, at 903-693-2056.
Those who plan to attend the prom do not need to RSVP. If you have questions about the event, contact Jessica Rittenberry, SOTA sponsor, at 903-694-4023.
