The North Texas Chapter of the Gas Processors Association (NTGPA) donated $20,000 to the Panola College School of Energy on August 16, 2024. NTGPA representatives, Scott Baker from IPM and Shane McConnell from Buffco Production, were on campus to present the donation to the College.

For the first time, the School of Energy is offering two new courses in measurement and SCADA technology. The donated funds will be used to purchase SCADA software and hardware that will allow a petroleum meter run to transmit data from the outdoor workspace into the classroom.

“With the funds donated by NTGPA, we will be able to have several different brands of meters and show students hands-on how to operate an oil lease location,” said Daniel Hall, School of Energy chair. “Because of the generosity of our industry partners, our students will be better equipped to enter the field.”

NTGPA is committed to supporting its community through industry-focused scholarships as well as serving as a forum for exchanging ideas and information regarding the midstream industry and providing opportunities for social interaction.

The donation comes as Panola College officially welcomes students into the new Matthews Foundation Energy Building. Learn more about the School of Energy by visiting panola.edu/energy.
