Panola College offers the RN Refresher course and the LVN Refresher course to nurses living in our four county service area only; this includes Panola county, Shelby county, Harrison county, and Marion county.
The Refresher courses (RN or LVN) are designed to meet the requirements for the Texas Board of Nursing for a nurse who has let his/her license lapse. A nurse who wants to reactivate a license must take the course in two parts: Part I is an online review of Medical/Surgical Nursing, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration and the cost is $475. Part II consists of 80 hours of clinicals and the cost is $475.
Prior to the clinical portion, nurses must show proof of a temporary nursing permit from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON), current Healthcare Provider BLS, immunizations such as current TB, Hepatitis B, Tdap, and various titers (i.e. Rubella, Hep B, and Varicella). Drug screening is required.
The future dates for the online portion can be found at www.vct.org by clicking on Course Schedule/Continuing Education. You will then select the upcoming time frame and click Select.
If you wish to enroll in the Refresher Course, you must first start by calling Dr. Cordell at 903.694.4003 to reserve a spot in the course.
