Promoting Excellence in Nursing

The mission of the Associate Degree Nursing program is to facilitate an educational environment to foster the development of caring, ethical, competent, novice professional nurses. As such, we contribute to the progression of the nursing profession.

The purpose of the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Panola College is to provide high quality education to individuals in the community seeking a career as a registered nurse and to promote the transition of the Licensed Vocational Nurse into the role of the professional nurse. Upon completion of the course of study, the student is prepared to take the National Council Licensure examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a registered nurse.

Degree Options

The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) prepares graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam to become a registered nurse. Three options are offered at Panola College:

The Traditional Program takes 24 months with summers off.
The Panola Online Nursing Education (PONE) is a sixteen month track offered in a flexible format with classes online and clinicals provided in the evenings and weekends.
The LVN Transition option allows students with a license in vocational nursing to challenge two of the first semester courses to continue in the Traditional or PONE track

Associate Degree Nursing

Students are admitted twice a year - Deadlines to apply are: March 1st for summer PONE and fall face-to-face, October 1st for spring face-to-face.
The online/flex option, Panola ONE, is available for students who cannot attend classes during the regular Monday through Thursday daytime hours. Courses are online and clinicals are flexed to evenings and weekends.
