English as a Second Language (ESL)
Panola College, through the Adult Basic Education program, partnered with Republic
Industries to bring English as a Second Language classes on-site to their employees
at Republic Industries on Airport Drive in Marshall, Texas. Classes, which began in
June, ended after a 10-week instructional course tailored to multiple skill levels
on July 31. The program was quite successful having 17 students complete the course.
Overall, students showed positive gains in their BestPlus test scores, demonstrating
growth in their oral and comprehension English language skills. Those who met the
class requirements were honored with a graduation ceremony including a visit from
their supervisors and the President of Republic Industries.
Many of the students expressed a desire for continued learning and plan to attend the free classes held at the Panola College campus in the Marshall Center Pinecrest Drive.
Free ESL classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning at 6:00 pm and ending at 8:00 pm at Panola College in Marshall. For more information, please call (903) 935-5039. Read more from the ESL flyer.
