What is SmarterMeasure?
The SmarterMeasure Learning Readiness Indicator is a diagnostic tool which helps you
determine your level of readiness for taking online courses. SmarterMeasure is a web-based
tool which assesses your likelihood for succeeding in an online course. The SmarterMeasure
assessment uses a sequence of activities to measure the degree to which you possess
the traits needed for success in studying in a distance learning course. Components
addressed in SmarterMeasure include:
• Self-motivation
• Time-management skills
• Self-discipline
• On-screen reading rate and recall
• Persistence
• Availability of time
• Ability to use a laptop, printer, software, and the Internet
• Typing speed and accuracy
But relax, SmarterMeasure is fun! Your scores on this assessment will not prevent
you from being able to take online classes, nor will your scores impact your grades
in courses you may already be taking. SmarterMeasure is being provided by Midland
College to help you understand your strengths and weaknesses better as you prepare
to learn online. SmarterMeasure is a tool to help you succeed!
After completing SmarterMeasure, you will receive an immediate score with diagnostic
interpretation of results. The results are provided in easy to interpret graphs and
text. In addition, you may choose to have your report e-mailed to you. Your report
will also contain links to free resources to help you succeed as an online learner.
