Panola College Store textbook buyback and scholarship return scheduled for Monday, May 7th - Thursday, May 10th from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Come get cash for your textbooks!

Book Drive
The Panola College Pi Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is sponsoring “Hooked on Books,” a children’s book drive from now until May 4th. The PTK service project will collect new and gently used children’s books appropriate for Early Childhood - 6th grade readers. The books will be donated to local daycare centers and after-school programs. All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to bring books to the blue tub located at the Student Center front desk or Monk lobby.

Twilight: An Aerial Dance Performance
Panola College will host an outdoor aerial dance performance across the face of the Charles C. Matthews Foundation Student Center. Entitled “Twilight,” the site-specific aerial dance is designed especially for the campus structure. The performance features dancers with Blue Lapis Light of Austin and set for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24. Be sure to bring your lawn chair or a blanket to enjoy the performance. Admission is free. The performance is supported by the Texas Commission on the Arts and is sponsored by the B.F. and Mary Payne Fund for the Preservation of Texas Culture. Photo credit: copyright: Earl McGehee

Jazz on the Quad
Tuesday, April 17 was the perfect day for an outdoor picnic with live music from the Panola College Jazz Band. Sitting under the shade of the oak trees in the Quad, the audience members sat on benches, lawn chairs or lounged on blankets during the performance. The Panola College Jazz Band is directed by Dwaine Hubbard, professor of instrumental music.

Underground Railroad Exhibition
This exhibition features beautifully dramatic color photographs, ephemera, and narratives that together tell the story of the Underground Railroad. The author is working with Princeton Architectural Press to prepare a publication that will combine eighty-two original photographs and text with a diverse sampling of related ephemera. This exhibition was organized by ExhibitsUSA, a program of Mid-America Arts Alliance. Women in Energy Event
Women in Energy is an informative event about the oil and gas industry and the careers available for women in the field. It is a great opportunity for high school students to listen to the experiences of women already in the field and the career path they chose. Attendees will tour Panola College and receive some hands on training in the Petroleum and Welding labs. Women in Energy is hosted by Panola College School of Energy.

Workforce & Continuing Education
Panola College has a variety of classes offered through Workforce & Continuing Education. Aerial Yoga taught by Dr. Barbara Cordell, Country and Swing Dancing and Ballroom Dancing taught by David Currey, and Bridge basics taught by Sharon Ivey are just a few of the many classes available to enhance lifelong learning and personal enrichment. On the road again!
Panola College professors Bill Offer and Brian Naples are collaborating on a May term adventure that will allow students to earn three hours of credit in either Texas government (GOVT 2306) or Texas history (HIST 2301). The coursework will culminate in a week-long field trip to prominent Texas museums and places of interest. Offer and Naples will host an informational meeting about the courses with field trip at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10 in Classroom 1110 in the Miller Administration Building.

Med Aide Session II
Panola College offers Medication Aide classes at our Workforce and Continuing Education location. Session II will be May 3 - June 19 with M/T/F classes at 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Call 903-693-2067 for more information.
